Participant capacity: 80
Credits: 16 QEU/CEU. An intermediate course that applies toward the RWP certification (required in the Electric & Utilities pathway; elective in the Generalist pathway) and the SR/WA designation.
Topics: project planning and feasibility, records development and management, title and curative matters, survey, permits, negotiation and strategy, public relations, construction, damage settlement, and related right of way activities.
Instructor: George William (Bill) Christian, Jr., SR/WA, retired Director of Real Estate for Duke Energy after nearly 39 years; past President and International Director of IRWA Carolinas Chapter 31.
Tuition: IRWA members $415, non-members $575 (includes learning guide and pocket glossary of electrical terms; PDF course materials free). Late fee effective October 28, 2026: members $515, non-members $675.
Tuition help: IRWA does not have a per-course assistance program like AAPL's, but the Right of Way International Education Foundation's Fifty for Fifty Scholarship awards $2,500 toward IRWA coursework to IRWA members of at least one year who have formally declared candidacy for an IRWA certification (RWP, SR/WA, etc.). The 2026 round closed May 15; the next application is expected in spring 2027 at irwaonline.org (Professional Development › Scholarship Programs), submitted to Cynthia Herrera at [email protected]. In the meantime, the IRWA member rate saves one hundred sixty dollars, and registering before October 28 avoids the one-hundred-dollar late fee.
